It is the expectation of the North Central Texas Council of Governments (NCTCOG) that partner agencies who employ Recruit Officers and use Regional Police Academy services will abide by certain guidelines. These guidelines are designed to promote a safe and effective training environment and permit agencies the ability to be engaged in the actions of their employees in a way that closely mirrors that which the employee will experience upon completion of their time with us. Further, these guidelines help ensure that recruits attending the Regional Police Academy are as mentally, physically, and academically prepared as possible to fully participate and succeed in their training and assessment.
As a condition of any Recruit Officer being enrolled in the North Central Texas Council of Governments (NCTCOG) Regional Police Academy, partner agencies agree to:
- Recognize their responsibility to appropriately screen and evaluate recruits for full and complete participation in all aspects of training and assessment at the time of enrollment.
- Provide prompt notification to the Regional Police Academy if any significant change in condition occurs with any Recruit Officer enrolled in the Regional Police Academy, such that the Recruit Officer’s continued full participation in all aspects of training and assessment would be affected or restricted.
- Promptly investigate any allegations of major misconduct, criminal activity, or acts of moral turpitude or similarly disparaging acts concerning a Recruit Officer from their agency that would potentially discredit the partner agency, NCTCOG, or the profession of Law Enforcement, and to provide NCTCOG with a summarized final disposition of any such investigation upon request (This does not supersede the NCTCOG RPA recruit manual guidelines for internal investigations).
- Maintain open and transparent communication with the Regional Police Academy on any matters of concern, importance, or question.
- Operate as a true partner in the training and education of Recruit Officers and always act with good faith and honesty in deeds.
In exchange, you may be assured that the Regional Police Academy will always strive to provide an environment where Recruit Officers can excel, in an atmosphere that challenges them to apply critical thinking skills and theoretical knowledge in a constantly changing environment, and with professional staff members who will keep your agency informed of your employee’s progress. It is our pledge to only deliver the best Recruit Officers possible, capable of addressing the current and future policing needs of our communities.
